Before starting as the General Manager for Bar Standard and Milk in 2012, Brandon originally moved to Denver to work with his brother at a video game development company. But he says realized he couldn’t “stand the dude, went to get a drink and the rest is a blur of late night gas station food and terrible girlfriends.”
Brandon eventually started what would be a two-year gig as the General Manager of the Funky Buddha (now Lincoln Street Station, leased out to a new tenant), a SoCo venue that closed in 2015.
“When I was at the Funky Buddha I was able to meet some of the best people on earth,” Brandon says. “The staff, the customers, the DJs, cooking with Mrs. Eva in the kitchen, designing with Maria, going over ideas with Regas. It will always be one of my favorite memories. I wish we still had that place.”
After being General Manager of Funky Buddha for two years, Brandon also started managing three other SoCo venues; Bar Standard, Milk and Mo’s. As GM of Bar Standard and Milk, Brandon supervises direction and control of events, booking DJs, bands and events, bottle service, VIP hosting, staffing, guest relations, safety, scheduling, accounts payable, inventory, changing lightbulbs, being the idea guy, and well, looking cool.
When overseeing Bar Standard and Milk, Brandon heeds some of the best advice he’s been given: “Don’t ask someone to do something you aren’t willing to do yourself.” Other words he lives by are “check your blood sugar and check it often” and “save your game often.”
When he’s not doing one of his many duties for Bar Standard and Milk, Brandon says he like to wear pajamas and ask his cat why he yells at him.
