How SoCo Nightlife gives back to the Denver Community:
What is Keep Denver Beautiful?
Keep Denver Beautiful’s mission is to enhance the visual appearance of Denver by addressing problems of graffiti and litter through volunteer projects and educational programs. They work to eliminate trash, litter, junk and graffiti from our city’s neighborhoods and public spaces. Keep Denver Beautiful coordinates the efforts of neighborhood residents, volunteer groups and Solid Waste Management to provide support and ensure the success of their local community service projects, like Adopt-a-Spot.
About Adopt-A-Spot:
SoCo Nightlife District has been participating in Keep Denver Beautiful’s volunteer program ‘Adopt-A-Spot’ for many years. Adopt-a-Spot provides an opportunity for schools, businesses, families, etc. to regularly volunteer by maintaining a specific area of the neighborhood. For one year, each group is responsible for picking up litter, removing illegal signs and reporting graffiti in their designated area. Each group’s designated area will be identified with a street sign recognizing the group as an Adopt-a-Spot sponsor. Keep Denver Beautiful will provide the necessary clean up supplies and free trash pickup after each time a group volunteers.
SoCo Nightlife District as an Adopt-a-Spot Sponsor:
In addition to the clean up of all six clubs that the team takes care of regularly, we participate in this volunteer program 3-4 times per year. Adopt-a-Spot is a SoCo-wide effort and employees from all of our venues get involved. Keep Denver Beautiful provides us with supplies and the team breaks up into smaller groups to get the job done. We head out with trash bags, trash grabbers, brooms and shovels in our gloves and safety vests. We focus on cleaning up the neighborhood from 12th to 10th and Sherman to Acoma. We have a Keep Denver Beautiful sign installed at the north alley entrance of 10th between Lincoln and Sherman designating this area as the SoCo Nightlife clean up area.
SoCo Nightlife District won an award from the Keep Denver Beautiful campaign last year for our Adopt-A-Spot efforts. There were many awards for various projects presented, but two groups got special recognition for their involvement in Adopt-A-Spot: SoCo Nightlife District and Golden Triangle Association (GTA).
There are many Adopt-a-Spot locations available in Denver. Cleanups offer participants the chance to explore the diverse cultural, economic and social environment of Denver. Cities are part of our ecosystems and volunteering helps to explore the opportunities and challenges facing urban communities. Adopt-a-Spot is a great way to get involved in your community and collaborate with the diverse people from Denver’s neighborhood. SoCo Nightlife District is proud to be a sponsor and long-time participant in Keep Denver Beautiful’s Adopt-a-Spot.
